Panama City

Skyline of Panama City from the market

The group got to experience many sites and attractions around   Panama City, many of which weren't on the itinerary. We visited a tourist themed marketplace close to the French Plaza which houses the French Embassy in Panama. The marketplace allowed you to look across a bay to see the Panama City skyline.

Shortly after our visit to the marketplace we got to see the house of the Panamanian president, from the outside of course,  since he was reportedly working inside.

Panama City is full of variety, you can find just about any kind of restaurant, store, or resort. Throughout the 6 days and nights we spent in and around Panama City we went to many different types of restaurants, including Mediterranean, Indian, Arabian, and traditional Panamanian restaurants. Being the capital and largest city in Panama, Panama City is the center of shopping and commerce in Panama. So you can find just about any kind of store to shop at. There are a lot of major American retail stores and other international companies mixed in with small, local stores and traditional Panamanian-style markets. A main source of income in Panama City is tourism. You can find many different kinds of resorts, hotels, and tourist sites around the city. Souvenir-type stores make a killing off of tourists in the city. Panama City is also revered as one of the most modern cities in Central America and is described as a very "Americanized" due to its many skyscrapers and modern infrastructures. - Zach Mersmann
